The Role:

Key Responsibilities:

About the Role:

As Senior Chef de Partie, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of our kitchen, leading by example and maintaining the high standards that Riverstone Kitchen is known for. You’ll be working alongside a talented team, managing your section, and mentoring junior staff, all while creating delicious, innovative dishes that reflect our commitment to quality and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of your section, ensuring food is prepared and presented to the highest standards.

  • Mentor and train junior chefs, ensuring a strong, cohesive kitchen team.

  • Collaborate with the Head Chef and Sous Chefs to develop new menu items and daily specials, with an emphasis on seasonal and local ingredients.

  • Manage inventory and ensure that stock levels are maintained, minimising waste.

  • Uphold all health, safety, and hygiene standards within the kitchen.

  • Support with ordering, preparation, and plating to ensure the smooth flow of service.

  • Maintain a positive and efficient working environment that fosters creativity and team collaboration.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or Senior Chef de Partie in a fast-paced, high-quality kitchen.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

  • Passion for food, with a keen interest in using fresh, local, and sustainable ingredients.

  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Solid understanding of kitchen health and safety regulations.

  • Creativity and a strong commitment to continuous learning and development.

  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Riverstone Kitchen is a vibrant and busy restaurant with a dedicated team, passionate about delivering a high-quality food and dining experience.

Situated in rural Otago, 15km north of Oamaru, Riverstone Kitchen creates its menu based around the seasonal produce sourced from its extensive kitchen gardens and local suppliers. Our food is simple, full of flavour and delivered with exceptional quality and care.

Everything is made on site, from scratch, including bread, pastry, ice cream, stocks, sauces, sausages, bacon – we do it all! We also breakdown all our lambs in house along with the occasional pig and beef cow. If you want variety in your workday – we have it.
