Perfect Hot Cross Buns

People go crazy year after year for these easter buns made at our restaurant which are real hot cross buns, not like the ones you find in supermarkets and are made with love and flavor, which is what Riverstone Kitchen - The Cooking School is all about.

Real hot cross buns should be full of fruit, lots of spice, and have a nice chewy texture while still being light.

Customers come back year after year, with many asking for the recipe and in this video, I will be sharing the recipe so you can make these delicious buns in your own kitchen.

Perfect Hot Cross Buns Recipe:

1kg plain flour

3tsp yeast

3 tsp salt

650g tepid water

3/4 cup mixed peel

1 cup raisins

1/2 cup currants

1/2 cup chocolate buttons (optional, but will make the kids and big kids happy)

1+ 1/2 tsp ground mixed spice

1 + 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp allspice

3 Tbs olive oil

1/2 cup plain flour (for crosses) + water to mix

Bun Glaze - 1/2c water + 1/2c sugar
